Cholesterol is a type of natural fat, present in every cell in the human body and necessary to live a healthy life. However, it can become a cardiovascular risk factor when its blood levels are high. The cholesterol present in the human body comes from two sources. The first source is endogenous cholesterol, which is synthesized by the liver. A quantity of this cholesterol is expelled from the blood through VLDL (Very Low Density Lipoproteins) and the remaining quantity is converted into bile acids. The second source, exogenous cholesterol, comes from food, generally of animal origin and its derivatives. During the day, the cholesterol present in the intestine is composed of 2/3 of endogenous origin and 1/3 of exogenous origin.

RED RICE
It is a traditional Chinese product of fermentation of a type of yeast on rice. This process produces compounds called monacolins, one of which is monacolin K. Monacolin K, known as lovastatin, is prescribed to lower blood lipid levels.

GAMMA-ORYZANOL
The mechanism of action is not yet known. However, studies have shown that taking gamma-oryzanol with a diet high in cholesterol increases the flow of bile and the total production of bile acids by 12% and 18% respectively. Also in cholesterol, there was a significant increase in fecal excretion of cholesterol 28% and bile acids 29% and a decrease in cholesterol absorption by 20%.

CHROMIUM
Research suggests that a diet low in chromium increases the risk of developing arteriosclerosis. Chromium supplementation has been shown to be effective in reducing triglycerides, total cholesterol and LDL-cholesterol circulating in the blood, and increasing HDL-cholesterol.

Q10
The use of statins is often associated with a variety of symptoms related to myopathies. Statins inhibit the production of coenzyme Q10, an essential cofactor for mitochondrial energy production. Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ-10) is a vitamin-like substance that is present throughout the body, but especially in the heart, liver, kidneys and pancreas.

MARIAN THISTLE
One of the effects associated with the use of statins is their liver toxicity. Statins produce an increase in transaminases, which generally happens in the first 3 months of treatment. Based on the available clinical evidence, it can be concluded that the use of silymarin (the main active ingredient in Milk Thistle) is effective in the face of liver toxicity.

How to Use

Take 1 tablet after main meals (2 tablets per day).
